Radiologic Technologists at Kearney County Health Services use state of the art equipment to provide comprehensive, high-quality diagnostic imaging services in a compassionate and caring environment close to home.

Radiography (X-Ray)

Radiography causes a low dose of radiation to pass through the body producing images that are used to detect certain problems with bone, joints, and various organs like the heart and lungs.

Computed Tomography (CT)

Computed Tomography combines x-rays and computer scans that produce detailed pictures showing problems with soft tissues (such as the lining of sinuses), organs (such as kidneys or lungs), and bones. CT examinations at Kearney County Health Services produce a 3-D image of the body with an x-ray beam that rotates around the body utilizing Low Dose Technology.

Low Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening

Trials conducted by the National Cancer Institute show Lung Cancer Screening CT scans reduce the number of deaths from lung cancer. Certain criteria must be met, call your healthcare provider to see if you qualify.

Digital Mammography

Digital Mammography is an x-ray exam of breast tissue. The image produced is a mammogram that provides an extremely clear image of breast tissue and identifies problems such as cysts or tumors.

Bone Mineral Density (BMD)

A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scan measures the amount of calcium in the bone by taking two low-dose images of the spine and hip or wrist. The images are processed on a computer to identify possible osteoporosis or osteopenic disease.

Vascular & Echo

Vascular and Echo services use ultrasound to take pictures of your veins and heart to provide more information about your heart and vein health as well as screen for blood clots.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging produces images of the body’s internal structures by passing radio waves through a powerful magnetic field. MRI is especially good for imaging soft tissues in the body, including the brain, nerves, muscles, and organs. The MRI truck travels to Kearney County Health Services weekly.

Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine is a type of medical imaging that uses radioactive isotopes and relies on the process of radioactive decay to measure the extent of a disease process in the body. In some diseases, nuclear medicine studies can identify medical problems earlier than other diagnostic tests. The Nuclear Medicine truck comes bi-weekly from Nebraska Heart Institute.
