February Is Heart Month: Join Us for Two Heart-Healthy Events at KCHS
February is Heart Month, a time to focus on the small, meaningful steps we can all take to support lifelong heart health. At Kearney County Health Services, caring for hearts goes beyond the clinic. We’re here to educate, support, and connect with our community.
This February, we’re hosting two special Heart Month events, each offering a unique opportunity to learn more about heart health in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
Cardiac Rehab Open House
Tuesday, February 10 | 10:00 a.m. – Noon | KCHS
Whether you’re recovering from a heart event, managing risk factors or simply want to learn more, our Cardiac Rehab Open House is a great place to start. Everyone is welcome, and no RSVP is required.
- During the open house, guests can:
- Receive a free risk factor assessment with our registered nurses
- Get blood pressure checks
- Participate in a Q&A with our Cardiac Rehab staff and dietitian
- Take a tour of our Cardiac Rehab space
- Enjoy door prizes and more
Cardiac rehab plays a powerful role in recovery and prevention. Recent scientific studies show that people who complete a cardiac rehab program can increase their life expectancy by up to five years. Our Cardiac Rehab team focuses on helping patients build strength, confidence, and lifelong heart-healthy habits while supporting each person’s journey every step of the way.
From the Clinic to the Kitchen: Heart-Healthy Cooking With Beef
Tuesday, February 24 | 11:30 a.m. | KCHS
Heart health doesn’t stop at the clinic—it continues at home and around the table. Join us for a free Heart-Healthy Cooking Demo and Lunch in partnership with the Nebraska Beef Council.
This event will include:
- A live heart-healthy cooking demonstration
- Practical nutrition tips you can use in your own kitchen
- A complimentary lunch
- Helpful guidance on making heart-healthy choices without sacrificing flavor
