At Kearney County Health Services, we believe early detection is one of the most powerful tools in the fight against breast cancer. That’s why we offer advanced 3D mammography, a screening technology designed to give patients and providers a clearer, more detailed look at breast tissue.
Unlike traditional mammograms that capture just two images, 3D mammography takes multiple images from different angles to create a layered view of the breast. This makes it easier for radiologists to spot potential concerns, even in dense breast tissue, while also reducing the chance of false alarms. In many cases, this means fewer call-backs for additional imaging and greater peace of mind for patients.
In addition to mammography, our radiology team also provides breast ultrasound when further evaluation is needed. Together, these tools give our patients access to comprehensive breast health care close to home.
Who Should Get Screened?
- Women age 40 and older should schedule annual mammograms.
- Those with a family history of breast cancer may need to begin screenings earlier.
- Women with dense breast tissue
- Women with certain gene changes, such as BRCA1 or BRCA2
- Women with history of breast cancer or some other breast conditions
- Women who have had radiation treatment to the chest area
- Lifestyle risk factors such as obesity, lack of exercise or alcohol use
- Your provider can help determine the right time to start and how often to schedule screenings.
