KEARNEY COUNTY HEALTH SERVICES Introduces Comprehensive Urology Services with Dr. Matthew Rutman

Kearney County Health Services (KCHS) is pleased to announce the expansion of its specialty care offerings with the introduction of comprehensive urology services, now available to the community. This initiative underscores KCHS’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to residents of Minden and the surrounding areas.

“For the last few years, we have identified urology as a significant priority to establish better access to care for those with urology needs in Kearney County, but the areas around as well,” says Luke Poore, CEO of Kearney County Health Services.  “Dr. Rutman comes highly recommended, and left a lasting impression upon his visit to our community, and meeting with our team in Minden, emphasizing the importance of exceptional, family-centered care to those in need.”

Leading the new urology department is Dr. Matthew Rutman, a board-certified specialist in Urology and Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Rutman brings extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of urologic conditions, including:

  • Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH)
  • Bladder Dysfunction and Prolapse
  • Female Incontinence
  • Neurogenic and Overactive Bladder
  • Prostate Laser Surgery
  • Urinary Disorders

Dr. Rutman’s practice encompasses both male and female voiding dysfunctions, urinary retention, interstitial cystitis, prostatitis, urinary incontinence, neurogenic bladder, urinary tract infections, and reconstructive female urology surgeries for conditions such as vaginal prolapse and urethral diverticulum. He has authored over 40 publications in leading journals and urology textbooks, with clinical and research interests focusing on incontinence, voiding dysfunction, urodynamics, and surgical outcomes.

Prior to joining KCHS, Dr. Rutman served as Associate Professor of Urology at Columbia University Medical Center, where he was the Director of Voiding Dysfunction, Incontinence, and Female Urology, as well as the Director of the Female Urology and Voiding Dysfunction Fellowship. He completed his medical degree with honors at The Chicago Medical School, followed by a residency at William Beaumont Hospital and a fellowship in female urology, voiding dysfunction, neurourology, and urodynamics at UCLA Medical Center under the mentorship of Dr. Shlomo Raz.

Dr. Rutman and his family are enthusiastic about integrating into the Minden community. They are avid outdoor enthusiasts who have long desired a transition from urban life to a more rural setting, aligning with their passion for activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, and skiing. Dr. Rutman expressed his excitement about joining the KCHS team, stating that the opportunity to practice in a rural environment is a perfect fit for his lifestyle and career aspirations.
