Radiology services are available 24/7 for emergency needs.
Radiography (X-Ray)
Radiography causes a low dose of radiation to pass through the body producing images that are used to detect certain problems with bone, joints, and various organs like the heart and lungs.
Computed Tomography (CT)
Computed Tomography combines x-rays and computer scans that produce detailed pictures showing problems with soft tissues (such as the lining of sinuses), organs (such as kidneys or lungs), and bones. CT examinations at Kearney County Health Services produce a 3-D image of the body with an x-ray beam that rotates around the body utilizing Low Dose Technology.
Low Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening
Trials conducted by the National Cancer Institute show Lung Cancer Screening CT scans reduce the number of deaths from lung cancer. Certain criteria must be met, call your healthcare provider to see if you qualify.
3D Mammography
**Now Offering** 3D Mammography
Mammography is an x-ray exam of breast tissue. The image produced is a mammogram that provides an extremely clear image of breast tissue and identifies problems such as cysts or tumors. Our rapid 3D Mammography exam has a rapid 3.7 second scan time. In addition, SmartCurve Comfort Paddles provide a more comfortable exam.
Bone Mineral Density (BMD)
A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) scan measures the amount of calcium in the bone by taking two low-dose images of the spine and hip or wrist. The images are processed on a computer to identify possible osteoporosis or osteopenic disease.
General Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a medical test that used high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from the inside of the body. It is also known as sonography, An ultrasound can detect problems with organs, vessels, and tissues without needing to make an incision.
Vascular Ultrasound
Vascular ultrasound is a noninvasive test to evaluate blood flow in the arteries and veins in the arms, neck, and lungs. The test is used to diagnose blood clots and peripheral artery disease.
Echocardiography
An echocardiogram uses sound waves to create pictures of the hear to show blood flow through the heart and the heart valves. This test can help diagnose heart disease and other heart conditions.
C-Arm
A C-Arm is an advanced medical imaging device that works on the basic premise of x-ray technology. C-arms are typically used in operating rooms for surgical and orthopedic procedures allowing surgeons to see real-time imaging of the target area.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging produces images of the body’s internal structures by passing radio waves through a powerful magnetic field. MRI is especially good for imaging soft tissues in the body, including the brain, nerves, muscles, and organs. The mobile MRI truck travels to Kearney County Health Services weekly.
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine is a type of medical imaging that uses radioactive isotopes and relies on the process of radioactive decay to measure the extent of a disease process in the body. In some diseases, nuclear medicine studies can identify medical problems earlier than other diagnostic tests. The Nuclear Medicine truck travels on site to KCHS bi-weekly from Nebraska Heart Institute.
